8 Months

Can you believe it?! Eight freaking months old. The time is just flying by. We had our first Thanksgiving as a family. We had a few friends over for lunch since our family lives in Indiana. We learned that Henry loves turkey, but to be honest he loves everything.
8 months

This kid is growing up. He crawls everywhere, all the time. I can't keep up. He is working on pulling himself up to stand. He will stand if you help him up but can't get all the way up alone. Talking is on a whole new level. He still loves to say mama and has said dada maybe a few times. He will say Da randomly though. He hardly shuts up and has learned to yell when he is mad instead of crying.

Look what I can do
We survived our second cold. I had read that teething caused a runny nose, so I thought that was why he had one. Then I got sick. I guess all of his cart licking finally caught up with him. Still no teeth but you can see the little buds. He is pretty hilarious and knows what faces makes us laugh. The dogs are his new favorite things. All they have to do is look in his direction and he cracks up. I seriously can't wait to see what the next month brings us.

7 Months

This Halloween our little guy turned 7 months. No we didn't got trick or treating. He doesn't need candy and to be honest neither do we. He has gone through serious growth spurt and out grew most of his pajamas and pants this month.

Happy Halloween/7 months

This kid is on the move. He rolls all over the place and has figured out how to maneuver around the furniture. He recently has started to try his hand at crawling. He can get on his knees but falls when he tries to move. We are predicting he will be crawling by Thanksgiving. He is a pro at sitting up and butt scooting.

Teething is in full force. So much drool everywhere. There are no teeth out yet but you can see them under his gums. He has started sitting in the cart which makes my life so much easier at the store. He has finally said his first word. Drumroll.....Mama! Everyone said it would be dada but he decided to go against the odds I guess. I think dada is coming soon since he has mastered baba. He loves every food we have given him so far. This week we are starting meat, so we will see how that goes.

Baby Jail

We had to buy a baby gate to keep him from getting into everything. We like to call it baby jail. If we don't keep him contained he is like a hurricane. He destroys everything. Let's hope it will withstand him once crawling starts.

6 Months

Where did the time go? It does not feel like Henry should be six months, but he is. He is getting bigger and cuter everyday. He is still pretty small for his age but we expected that since we are both pretty small people. He is still, and will forever be, a ladies man. He loves flirting with all women no matter the age.

Not only can he roll but he can roll both ways. So now when I put him in one place he rolls to his desired destination. He also has started to scoot on his butt. It's pretty entertaining to watch. He still isn't crawling but has started showing some interest. He would rather sit on the floor than lay down. He just started using more sounds while talking. Just last night he started putting together his ah,la, and ba sounds. So he's pretty much a genius. Look for his children's book set to release in a few months.

His hair has curled up this month and is officially out of control.  I'm considering baby hair gel to keep it contained. Solids foods are happening. Avocado so far is the favorite. We start peas tonight. He had some mango and loved it as well. Seriously though who doesn't love mango. Dogs are fun now. Trying to make out with dogs is even more fun.  Just for fun I did a comparison of one month to six months. It's crazy how much he has changed.

Why Are My Cookies Pink?

That's right pink cookies. After the eating adventure we had today we needed a healthy-ish cookie. Today we went to one of our favorite restaurants Frank. If you ever make it to Austin you need to go there. Anyways, we split two amazing things. I ordered a house made hot dog, wrapped in bacon, deep fried and topped with pimento cheese and coleslaw. Rob got a house made hot dog topped with mac-n-cheese and BBQ sauce.
Henry's first trip to Frank

Enough about our ahhhmazing lunch. Now to why my cookies are pink. A while back I found this recipe for beet chocolate chip cookies. That's right people BEETS! So I found the recipe over at beantownbaker and thought I would try them out. Let me just say they are way better than I expected. Not too sweet but sweet enough. I made a few slight changes.

ingredients:

3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup shredded raw beets
1 Tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 1/2 Tbsp water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

directions:

Combine all dry ingredients and stir.
In a food processor, pulse the shredded beets for a few second 5 times. Add the oil, vanilla, and water and process again. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add the sugar to the food processor and pulse until completely combined. The mixture will be very liquidy.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and the beet mixture. Mix to combine.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 min at 350.

So give them a try. Yes, they do have beets in them but you can't tell. I've already ate three and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Well maybe after five. I need to learn a little self control. Enjoy!

4 months

Our little man is four months! He is still the cutest baby you will ever see. He smiles at just about everything and everyone. He has started flirting with the ladies. I'm going to be in so much trouble when he gets older. His talking has gone to a whole new level. He now growls, squeals and whispers. It's pretty freaking adorable.

There are a few new things this time around. He now laughs. He thinks his dad is the funniest thing on earth. He rolls from belly to back, and is trying to roll from back to belly. When doing tummy time he now scoots around in circles. He sits in his highchair and plays with his toys. We have been slowly introducing cereal just to see how he does. He is slowly getting the concept of actually swallowing and not just spitting it out.

We plan on visiting Indiana soon so the family can meet Henry. We are excited to see family but not so excited to see Indiana. We did find out that we could fly to Puerto Rico for cheaper, so that might be our next trip. I've never been there and Rob has been wanting to go back for a long time.

3 Months

That's right people he's three months! He is pretty much the cutest thing around. He is smiling at everything and everyone. He talks non stop and has started mimicking sounds. He no longer hates tummy time and is working on rolling over. He loves being carried in his carrier so he can see what's going on. He also likes to lick his carrier along with everything else. My mom had bought him a Sophie teething toy that he loves to "make out" with. If you aren't careful he will lick your arm while holding him.

Making out with Sophie

This kid can't stay still

Also my sister is visiting! We are so excited she is here. This is her first time meeting Henry and her first time in Texas. She has turned out to be Henry's favorite person. He loves to stare at her and smile. We are doing all the tourist things and loving it. We will be sad when she has to go back home.

Introducing the Coolest Nursery....Ever!

After I found out I was pregnant we had bought this cute blanket. We were walking around downtown with some friends and went to a craft flea market. It's pretty much where a bunch of hipster artists get together and sell their stuff. I was in heaven. Anyways, we saw this Pac Mac blanket and had to have it. We didn't care if we were having a boy or a girl. So once we found out we were having a boy we had to decide the theme of his nursery. Well if you know us at all you know we aren't exactly traditional. Together we thought how about old school video games. We then narrowed it down to Pac Man since we already had the blanket.
The blanket that started it all
We painted his room colors that he will hopefully like until he is old enough to paint his own room. We kept the Pac Man decorations to a minimum. We didn't want it to be too busy. So introducing the nursery you wish you had as a kid.

Jealous much? I know I would have killed to have this room when I was little. So the next best thing is living vicariously through my child. Hope we can inspire other soon to-be parents. Just remember just because he is a baby doesn't mean his room needs to scream baby theme.
